6th & 8th Grade Coaches Responsibility

1) Jerseys are ordered for NEW players only.  Submit the order by October 30th to the President.

2) Practice times are limited.  We share Sunday practice times in the Middle School Gym and High School gym with the girls Frontcourt Club, Park and Rec Teams and Varsity teams.  In the past, the times on Sunday have been between 12 pm through 6 pm, each team getting a 2 hour time slot.  The 8th grade teams get first pick of the time slots, 7th get second pick etc. If the time you are given does not work for you, it will be YOUR responsibility to either switch with another coach or find a practice time on your own. Once practice times are finalized, I will submit those times to Scott Hayden.  I will hand out keys as soon as Scott gets them ready.

3) Coaches should read the Altoona Backcourt Club Rules and Responsibilites posted on this website.  It is the coaches responsibility to make sure that every parent has been given a copy of these rules and responsibilities.

4) It is the coaches responsibility to provide the league secretary, Echo Santos, with their name, which grade they are coaching, a telephone number, and email address where they can be reached.  Echo's email is posted on this website under Board Members.

5) Any player dues or registration forms collected by the coach should be turned into the league treasurer - Lashawn Nelson.  Lashawn's contact information can be found on this website under Board Members.  Please DO NOT give any dues or registration form to any other board member.  ONLY to the treasurer.  The dues need to be turned in BEFORE any practice or meet is played.  NO player may practice or participate in a meet if the treasurer does not have both the registration form and dues in her possession.

6) All coaches must be in compliance with the Great Northwest League's registration rules.  This includes submitting a roster on their website and submitting any waiver forms that are required. The Great Northwest League will not schedule teams in a tournament if they are not in full compliance.

7) Finally, HAVE FUN, basketball is a great game.  It can teach lessons that each player can carry throughout their lives such as sportsmanship, responsibility, teamwork and goal setting.
